Rob Austin Completes First Session In Audi
Free Practice one saw the Audi A4 of Rob Austin Racing complete it’s first session of the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park in the second round of the season.
Rob Austin, who took over driving duties from David Pinkney for this weekend, set a time of 1:14.922 in the first practice session of the weekend which was only good enough to put him in 21st in the full NGTC specification car.
Speaking to BTCC Crazy after the session Austin said, “It’s the first time it’s [Audi A4] been on a track anywhere so to end the session relatively problem free is an achievement. We’ve got a problem with the gearbox which means when I change gear we lose all the boost pressure which is costing us dearly down the main straight. We’ve had so many problems with the car I didn’t think they would be anything else that could go wrong”
Austin, who as well as playing driver this weekend he is also the team boss, went on to say, “For a guy who’s 4 seconds off the pace I’m relatively confident. I’m going out there to win because if you don’t there’s no point in being here.”
