Jordan Heads FP1 at Donington
Andy Jordan topped the times in the first practice session of the day at Donington Park, in preparation for the second round of the season.
The Pirtek Racing driver lapped the circuit in 1m: 10.843s in his Vauxhall Vectra, to head Triple Eight’s James Nash by just under three tenths of a second.
Gordon Shedden was third fastest in the works Honda Civic but again had drama in the first practice session of the day, though not quite on the scale of the heavy shunt he had, at the same point in the day at Brands Hatch, a fortnight ago, taking a trip through the gravel right near the end of the session.
Championship leader Jason Plato had a very low key session, finishing twelfth fastest, some 1.5 seconds shy of Jordan’s pace. It will be interesting to see if as forecast the cars with turbo engines will have more of a speed advantage over the all S2000 Spec Chevrolets than they did at Brands. The fastest of the Chevrolets was Alex MacDowall in ninth, who was half a second quicker than team mate Plato but still one second off the pace.
Frank Wrathall Junior was the fastest of the all NGTC spec cars and ended the session twentieth fastest, three seconds off the pace. He was just ahead of Rob Austin who gave his RAR Audi its first practice session of the season, ending up twenty first of the twenty three runners.

The second practice session of the day begins at 12:10.
