Tech-Speed Set Targets For Donington
Both Paul O’Neill and John George have targets set for this weekends second race of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park after enjoying successes last time out at Brands Hatch.
In the teams first weekend with the car they achieved three points finishes including a podium in race three at the hands of Paul O’Neill with John George also managing to finish all three races.
Paul, who currently lies 6th in the Drivers Championship, knows that this weekend will be tough with the circuit playing into the hands of the turbo cars but he knows he was a car capable of good positions, which was shown at Brands Hatch.
“I think it’s going to be difficult against the turbo cars at Donington,” he said. “Qualifying is going to be tough, but the aim is to be as high up on the grid as possible and try to make sure we are the top Chevrolet. The turbo cars are going to be quick over a single lap but we want to be in the best position we can be for race day.”
He went on to say, “The aim this season is to try and score 20+ points on each weekend and we did that at Brands Hatch. However, there is still pace to find in the car and we need to get the Chevrolet more suited to my style.”
John George, who achieved what he set out to achieve at Brands by finishing all three races is looking forward to Donington Park with a lot more confidence.
“I think Donington Park will be a good circuit for the Chevrolet, although it is also a circuit that will suit the turbo cars so we need to see how it goes,” said John “With a race meeting under my belt, I feel more at home in the Chevrolet and having improved my pace throughout the weekend at Brands Hatch, I’m keen to try and fight further up the order.
“Donington hasn’t always been my best circuit but, even though I may need some attrition elsewhere, I’d like to think that I can get into the top ten this weekend and score some points.”
