Tech-Speed Enjoy Successful Silverstone Test

It was smiles all round in the GoMobileUK.com with Tech-Speed garages yesterday after the team completed a successful afternoons testing at the annual Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship Media Day.

The team, which have acquired the ex-Silverline Chevrolet Cruzes from 2010, made their first appearance of the season with the new GoMobileUK.com liveries after they announced that they will be the new title sponsors of the team for the 2011 season.

Paul O’Neil, who’s staying on at the team after having podium finishes last season, drove his car for the first time after sharing that of John George in the previous two test sessions.

“We had a good day,” he said. “It was all about spending time in the car and we also managed to scrub in some new tyres ready for the opening round which is what we set out to do. The time was decent enough as my quickest lap wasn’t perfect, and it was only two-tenths of a second behind Jason Plato.”

John George also competed in the test and wracked up 48 laps in the Alex MacDowalls 2010 machine but was only able to post a time which was 1.396s behind the fastest time of the day.

“It’s been okay,” he said. “I didn’t make the most of the track when it was at its best and the fastest laps were set, but I was able to lap consistently and it was a solid start to the season. I was also able to run on new tyres for the first time which was good and I’m confident going into the opening rounds.”

The first round of the season is just over a week away as the teams head to Brands Hatch on April 4th.
