Jackson Confirmed as One of Three at Airwaves

The Airwaves Racing team run by David Bartrums Motorbase are to run 3 cars in the 2011 BTCC season. They will be running with NGTC spec Ford Focuses, with engines designed by Mountune petrol engines the same as the Arena Motorsport Team Aon cars.

The three cars acquired from Arena Motorsport will be spearing their attack on the championship, and 2010 driver Mat Jackson has been confirmed as staying with the team for 2011. Jackson’s first season in the BTCC in 2001 saw him driving a Focus in the production class.

One of his team mates at Airwaves will be Liam Griffin, graduate from the Carrera Cup GB. The third driver is still to be confirmed but it is expected that 2010 driver Steven Kane and former ‘Stig’ Ben Collins are both in contention.

David Bartrum states: “I’m delighted that we’ve got Mat back with us again this year. He’s an extremely talented driver and he works hard. It’s great to have him on board again for 2011.”

“It will be a year of learning for Liam, but he’ll have plenty of support from an experienced team. He had a good season with us in the Porsches last year and it’s great that he’s able to make the step up to the BTCC.

Testing for the new cars will begin in February at Brands Hatch, before moving to Spain at the Guadix circuit.
