Gow Allows BTC-Spec For 2011

Alan Gow, speaking on the official BTCC forum, announced that BTC-Spec cars are still eligible for next years 2011 British Touring Car Championship after the annual teams meeting last week. .

Championship Director said, “It was agreed to let the BTC-spec cars have one final year in 2011; however their base-weight will be +50kg’s on this year.

“Therefore we don’t realistically expect to see many BTC-spec cars on the grid. As well, the only BTC-spec cars that can still compete next year are those cars that competed in this year’s championship with no others are allowed to join.”

This means that there are only the Integra’s of O’Neill, George, Wood and Kaye aswell as the Vauxhall Astra Coupe of Johnson. Hamilton’s Honda Civic is also eligible but that has recently been sold on to Asia.

With the new NGTC rules coming into force it’s very unlikely that we’ll be seeing any of the BTC-spec cars on the grid with teams all planning ahead for the future.
