Special Tuning UK confirm 2nd car for 2011
The Special Tuning UK team who last season ran the Seat Leon driven by Tom Boardman have confirmed that they are to run with two cars for the 2011 BTCC season.
The team will be using the latest specification Seat Leon chassis, powered by a new NGTC spec turbocharged engine.
Team principal John Boardman is targeting an assault on the independent title, and also competing for race wins. “The team had a challenging season in 2010 using the underpowered S2000 engine, so we have taken the decision to use an NGTC engine next year” he said.
“We are working with a very successful engine builder on the project.” The engine will run for the first time next week followed by an intensive testing programme in Spain and here in the UK.
“We are taking the 2011 season very seriously, the team firmly has it’s sights set on winning the independents title next year, and with the highly experienced engineering team we have behind us combined with the Leon chassis and NGTC engine we think this is a very achievable target.”
The team are currently involved in talks to try and secure two drivers to spearhead their 2011 season.
