Nash frustrated at season

Triple Eight Engineering driver James Nash has described his 2010 season as frustrating despite showing impressive speed and results throughout the season.

Nash missed the first round of the season at Thruxon which saw Fabrizio Giovanardi take two wins with the Vauxhall. However, Triple Eight Engineering had trouble with numerous drivers unable to find the correct sponsorship such as Fabrizio Giovanardi, Phil Glew and Daniel Lloyd, so Nash, whose contract was due to end at Snetterton, was able to compete in every round with the Northamptonshire based team.

Nash raced in 5 rounds of last seasons BTCC championship with RML Chevrolet Lacetti alongside Mat Jackson and Jason Plato and after showing impressive pace moved to Triple Eight Engineering for 2010.

Despite an impressive season finishing 8th overall in the independents Championship and 12th in the overall standings, the young charger from Milton Keynes was left frustrated with his season.

“My season personally has been very, very tough,” said the 24-year-old.

“I’ve had a few problems in the way I’ve approached things after Snetterton race 3 that put me back on the back foot.

“I changed the way I was approaching weekends and it didn’t help. So since Donington I’ve changed it back and I’ve just been improving each time, but its taken a long time to get back but its been very frustrating along the way.”

Nash is hopeful of a BTCC seat next season and has revealed talks are underway.

“We’ve just started talks for next year again so we’ll see. I‘d love to stay in BTCC so we’ll see what comes of it.”
