Triple Eight Aiming To End On A High
Triple Eight Engineering will go into this weekend season finale at Brands Hatch in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship with hopes of a good points scoring weekend to round out what has been an unconventional season to say the least for the Northamptonshire based team.
The team will once again be fielding two cars for the weekend with BTCC debutant, Sam Tordoff, partnering the teams regular driver, James Nash, in the Vauxhall Vectra’s.
Tordoff will be the teams sixth driver this season after Giovanardi, Glew, Lloyd, Smith and Nash have all driven for the team this season.
Tordoff will go into the season finale buzzing with excitement and has already set his sights high. “The opportunity to drive the Triple Eight Vectra in the last round of the BTCC is too good an opportunity to miss,” said Sam. “The Vectra is a proven race winning car in the right hands and although I don’t expect to be visiting the podium I think a top 10 finish should be possible.”
Nash currently lies 13th in the championship of 43 points and a good points haul this weekend could give him an outside chance of squeezing inside the top 10 ahead of Andrew Jordan, who is incidentally driving an ex-888 Vauxhall Vectra with the NGTC turbo engine.
Nash said, “I can’t wait to get back in the car at Brands. I’m determined to get a strong result to finish the season. We ran well there in May and I know that I’ve got the pace, but for whatever reason we’ve not been able to string a run of decent results together. Consistency is the key. A podium is what I’m aiming for and I’d love to do it especially because it would to go some way to thanking my sponsors this season, Carlson Vehicle Transfer, Lex Autoleasing and EACS.”
