Sunshine.co.uk Look To End Season On A High

Team Sunshine.co.uk with Tech-Speed Motorsport are looking to end the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season on a high, as the championship reaches its finale at Brands Hatch in Kent.

After a tough weekend at Donington Park in the last round, drivers Paul O’Neill and John George look to defend third place in the Independent team championship as well as lifting the team to fifth in the overall teams’ standings, despite already out scoring the teams total from the pervious year.

“We’ll have to wait and see what happens. We know the car was strong on the longer GP circuit earlier in the year and we now have to try and take that form onto the Indy layout.

As we have done all season, we need to focus on trying to get into the top ten during qualifying and then make the most of the chances we have on race day.” O’Neill said.

Widnes-racer O’Neill also hopes to the Honda Integra the perfect send off on its BTCC swansong.

“I really want to give the Integra a good send off and end the season on a high. This has been the best season of racing I’ve had for a long time, and I’m going to Brands Hatch ready to fight hard to get a result for the team.”

His team mate, John George, has enjoyed arguably his most competitive season in the series. The Guernsey-based though is only focused on a strong finish to the season on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit.

“Brands Hatch suits the car and it should be a good weekend

“I’m certainly feeling more confident going back to Brands Hatch than I was going to Donington Park. I have to get into the top ten and score at least one point from the weekend.

Paul O'Neill is looking forward to the BTCC season finale at Brands Hatch this weekend

“I’m going to give it my all and do my best at a circuit where we should be able to get a strong result to end the year.”

Team Sunshine.co.uk with Tech-Speed sit just eight points behind West Surrey Racing in the teams’ standings as they enter the final weekend and Tech-Speed boss Marvin Humphries is hopefully of a strong weekend.

“We’re ready for battle to commence in the final round,” he said.

“Hopefully we can end the season on a high, but there is a full grid of drivers who have the same goal and we’ve seen during the year how difficult it can be.

“John deserves to get points from the weekend and it’s not out of the question that Paul could be fighting for a place on the podium.”

Sunshine.co.uk MD Chris Brown is confident of a strong finish at Brands Hatch to crown of a successful season for the team.

“This season has been fantastic for the team and hopefully we have one more strong weekend to come

“Paul has been simply stunning to take the fight to the championship contenders during the season with one of the oldest cars on the grid whilst the improvement in John since the start of the year has been great to watch.

“The Honda went well at Brands Hatch earlier in the year so there is no reason why we can’t end 2010 on a high.”
