Neal Leads Home Honda 1-2

Matt Neal took victory in race two of the day, from team mate Gordon Shedden as Honda continued to dominate proceedings.

Neal started fourth but took advantage of a poor start from Alex MacDowall to be second out of the first corner behind Shedden. At the end of the first lap the safety car was needed after a crash involving Dave Pinkney and Rob Collard. When the race restarted, Neal immediately pressurised Shedden and found a way through, at the hairpin, the final corner of the circuit. For the rest of the race Shedden kept close to Neal but was unable to force him into a mistake, despite both Hondas looking particularly lively around the bumpy Knockhill circuit.

Jason Plato took third position, after a patient drive. His conservative pursuit of Tom Chilton finally paid off when he got a better exit out of the hairpin, drew alongside on the start/finish straight and dived down the inside into the first corner. He followed this up by bullying his way past Kane, with a few nudges as they braked into the hairpin, allowing him to take the inside line and the position.

It was to get worse for Kane as an attempted overtake from Chilton went wrong and sent the former spinning. As Kane spun back across the track he collected Paul O’Neill who had been sixth. Kane recovered to finish fifth but O’Neill wasn’t so lucky and although he managed to get out of the gravel and rejoin the race, he crossed the line tenth.
