Onslow-Cole Comes Out On Top Of A Ford 1-2

Tom Onslow-Cole will start the first race of round seven of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship from pole position alongside his teammate, Tom Chilton.

A time of 59.659 was good enough to secure Onslow-Cole’s second pole position of the season and Team Aon’s fifth of the season. His time were set very early on in the session which no-one could beat. Both LPG powered Ford’s were able to go sub 1 minute, the only two cars to do so in the session.

The two Fords will be followed by the two Chevrolet’s of MacDowall and Plato. MacDowall out-qualified his team-mate, Plato, for the fifth time this season and will be happy with his performance in qualifying today.

Neal, who lies second in the championship, will start the first race of the day from 5th alongside the NGTC turbo Vauxhall Vectra of Andrew Jordan. The top seven drivers were all covered by under one second on the short lap of the National Circuit at Silverstone.

Collard was the fastest of the RWD cars but he couldn’t do enough to beat Paul O’Neill who will start ahead of him on the grid.

Nash and Shedden round out the top 10, a position that Shedden won’t be happy with.

Jackson could only manage 13th after having his lap times deleted with only 7 minutes remaining giving him little time to set a fast lap time.

Phil Glew had a broken driveshaft so was unable to set a lap time. Depper, after an incident in FP2 also suffered the same feat whilst Martin Johnson was unable to attend qualifying due to being at his son’s wedding.
