Solid points haul for Airwaves BMW

It was a fairly successful weekend for Airwaves BMW who came away with a healthy amount of points from Snetterton, which included a podium for Mat Jackson.

For race one Jackson had qualified an impressive fourth with Steven Kane eleventh. Both drivers managed to gain places, with Jackson coming a creditable second, pressurising race winner Plato every step of the way. Kane meanwhile, battled his way up to seventh, to secure four championship points.

In race two, Kane took the team bragging rights as he finished fourth, just ahead of Jackson after the latter made an error at Sears, allowing the former through.

The draw for the grid for the final race of the day meant that Jackson started sixth and Kane seventh. Kane gained a place thanks to Tom Onslow-Cole dropping down to the order due to a collision with Jackson. This incident saw Jackson lose ground that he had gained early in the race and finish a place behind Kane in seventh.

Of the weekend, team manager Oliver Collins said, “A solid point scoring weekend with a good podium for Mat in race one and good points in all three rounds. Unfortunately a slightly disappointing end to the day in a race where we couldn’t match the straight line speed of the Focus or Chevrolets.”

The team still lead the independent teams championship and are second in the overall teams championship, trailing Honda by 17 points.
