Airwaves Endure Mixed Fortunes At Snetterton

Qualifying was a tale of two drivers with both Mat Jackson and Steven Kane having mixed fortunes during a wet session at Snetterton today.

The day started well for both drivers in the first two practice sessions in the dry but as the rain began to fall both drivers found it tricky with the cars having been prepared with a wet weather set-up.

Mat Jackson managed to bring the car home with the 5th fastest time but admit’s that it wasn’t easy.

“It was a very positive day for me and the team and the car was very quick out there. It was a very tough session, the car was set-up for a dry track so I had to fight to keep it in line, but give me the wet any day,” said Mat.

“It’s so much more challenging to drive in these conditions and rain is always a good leveller. We’re in good shape for tomorrow and my eye is on a podium.”

Independant championship leader, Steven Kane, didn’t quite have things his own way and will have his work cut out today as starts tomorrow’s first race from 11th on the grid.

Kane got caught out by the changine weather conditions but he doesn’t rule himself out for tomorrow’s race.

“I’m obviously very disappointed as I didn’t get to show my true pace when the circuit was at its best. Not being on the track at the right time, in the right conditions with the new tyres on made us miss the window we needed to put a solid lap together,” said the the Northern Irish driver.

Kane went on to say, “We’re still in there fighting and it’s a reasonable grid position compared to the last two rounds, so we can take some positives out of qualifying which we can take to the race and get stuck in tomorrow morning.”
