Team Sunshine.co.uk travelled along to Snetterton yesterday for what would end up being a satisfying test session for the team and two drivers.
Both Paul O’Neill and John George attended the test but it was O’Neill who came away from the test with the second fastest time of the morning, just 0.013s slower than the works Chevrolet Cruz of Alex MacDowall. Incidentally this was also the third fastest time of the day after the afternoon session was plagued with heavy rainfall for much of the session.
“I’m quite pleased with the test but to be fair, we expected to be near the front,” said Paul, “although maybe not quite as near as we were! We changed quite a long of things compared to when we were here last year and the time I did was an untidy lap, so we know there is more to come.”
O’Neill currently stands in third place in the Independants championship and will be feeling confident after yesterdays test and will be looking to take advantage of their pace in two weeks time when the teams return for round six of the championship.
“I made a mistake at the Chicane which cost me maybe two tenths of a second, but what we know now is that we have a good car over a single lap. It’s always been a good car in the races, but we were able to put in that one quick lap like you need to do in qualifying.”
The team failed to emerge from the garage in the afternoon as they didn’t want to put any more mileage on their engine and had already collected the data which they had wanted.
Paul’s team-mate, John George, finished the day with the twelfth quickest time of the day but despite that the Tech-Speed chief, Marvin Humphries, said that he was “satisfied with how things went”.
