You may have read our previous article on some of the updates Shaun Hollamby has planned for the Snetterton test day on Thursday (if not, it’s High Hopes and Heartbreak). Shaun has given BTCC Crazy a few more details on what the AmD Millteksport team have planned!
Although the VW Golf is still 35bhp short of the front of the pack, Croft saw the car running way down on power compared to the rest of the grid. The rebuild, carried out in Liechtenstein, will see Shaun much more competitive at Snetterton.
“We have a stronger and more integrated front bumper. A rebuilt engine which is on the rolling road as we speak which will get the bhp back up to the pre Oulton Park levels, but still 35bhp down on the leaders.”
Here we have exclusive footage of the VW Golf on the dyno at the AmD garage earlier this week.
The AmD Essex team will be making the most of the experience of KW Suspension engineer Lutz Passon to further improve on the upgrades they’ve already made to the car.
“The main emphasis on the day will be making the most of our first proper test day this season! KW suspension engineer Lutz Passon will be coming over from Germany to work with our engineer Stuart Beaton to help get the best from the new KW suspension that we fitted at Croft. Luc has worked for the last few years with lots of race teams and particularly closely with James Thompson when he was racing the Honda in WTCC.”
The car will also be featuring a new set of wheels from Team Dynamics and these will become a feature for the remainder of the season, Shaun said:
“We will be using Team Dynamics wheels from this weekend onwards so thanks to Matt and the guys for making the Prorace wheels fit our VW Golf.”
