Pinkney makes progress
David Pinkney will start from 14th on the grid after todays qualifying session at Croft.
Dave started the day well and posted the 13th fastest time in the opening practice session of the day only to go a whole second quicker in the second free practice session later on.
But David saved his best till last as he posted his fastest time of the day when it mattered in the qualifying session. His time of 1:25.925 was good enough to secure him 14th on the grid, jsut 1.3s slower than the pole time set by Tom Chilton despite being held up by Arthur Forster during the session.
“We got quicker throughout the day but we lost time at the start of qualifying because of a problem with the car,” he said. “It wasn’t a bad session in terms of the lap times, although I thought we might have got down to a 1min 25.6secs without that delay and a bit more time on track.
“It’s a bit annoying that I’d just bolted on a new set of tyres and then got held up by Forster at Tower. At that part of the circuit, he’s had the whole straight to see me coming behind with my headlights on and he wasn’t even on a quick lap. However, we’ll just aim to score some good points on race day.”
Team manager, Andrew Dean also spoke out about David’s performance and admitted that he was “surprised not the be higher on the times.
He went on to say, “We’d hoped to get into the top ten but we made good progress. However, we’re certainly happier than we were after qualifying at Oulton Park! The set-up changes we made have worked and we have gone quicker, but the guys at the front have pulled a rabbit from the hat again.”
