Boardman eyes up good result

Tom Boardman came close to taking a win last time out at Oulton Park before cruelly retiring with a broken steering arm but will take great confidence from that performance as he prepares for the weekend ahead at Croft.

Whilst speaking to BTCC Crazy, Boardman said, “Hopefully we’re going to be near the front at Croft because the car’s showing good pace and even though we had two non-scores in race one and three at Oulton Park we took a big step forward there. If we find the right set-up and things go well in qualifying then we’ll be right back in the mix again.”

Tom currently lies in 7th place in the Independents championship on 50 points in the Special Tuning UK SEAT Leon but will look to take a good points haul this weekend. “We know that if we can produce the same pace and improve on the last outing then we’ll make up the ground we lost at Oulton Park and keep up the pressure on the other drivers in the challenge for the Independents’ title.”

Croft is also one of Tom’s favourite circuits. He added, “I really enjoy racing there. It’s not as demanding on the tyres as Oulton Park, but it’s a technical circuit and always makes for tight close racing with little room for error. With a bit of luck the weekend will stay dry which will suit the front-wheel-drive car and we can go out there and get some good results.”
