Hamilton doubtful for rest of season

Matt Hamilton announced yesterday that it looked doubtful for him to be racing next weekend at Croft and not good for the remainder of the season after the young university student failed to find a title sponsor for the team.

I am absolutely devastated’ said Matt. ‘We knew we are taking a bit of a gamble at the start of the year, but felt confident that we would be able to find a commercial partner to support us in such a high profile Championship. We got very close to one big deal in particular, but it just fell apart at the last minute. The current economic climate is making companies understandably very cautious about investing in sports sponsorship.

‘I am so grateful to the boys at TH Motorsport. They worked so hard to get my Honda Civic competitive on very little budget…..they wanted to continue as much as I did. However, you cannot run a car in a Championship as high calibre as this one on fresh air. I am very proud of what we have achieved as a team.’

Despite this setback, Matt is positive that he could return to the BTCC as soon as next season when the NGTC regulations come into force. He added, “My plans for 2011 are to raise the money to have a full assault at the BTCC championship with TH Motorsport in a new generation car, using the experience I have already attained to challenge at the sharp end.”

Although it doesn’t rule him out for participating in further rounds this season, Matt is looking to build for 2011 and looking at the long term goals ahead in his career. Hamilton already has 2 points in the championship after his brilliant display at Brands Hatch.
