Pinkney ends day frustrated

David Pinkney came home from Oulton Park very frustrated after what could have been a promising weekend for the Hertfordshire driver at one of the most popular circuits on the calendar.

The first race started badly for David as an issue with the power steering forced him to retire after a promising start from 15th on the grid but he later regained composure to come home in tenth in the second race, just 0.043 seconds behind Alex MacDowall in the works Silverline Chevrolet Cruze.

“We were quick at Brands Hatch but we haven’t been on the pace here,” he said. “At times, I was almost having to overdrive the car to keep up and we just didn’t have the speed that we thought we would have. We came to Oulton Park seeking improvement on Brands Hatch so it’s disappointing that we haven’t taken the step forward we wanted to. Even when we put a set-up similar to Brands Hatch on the car for the final race, it still wasn’t brilliant.”

David was unfortunate to miss out on a pole position for the final race after the top nine cars were reversed but ran inside the points for much of the race until a collision with Andy Neate made him drop down the order, eventually finishing in 12th.

He went on to say, “I couldn’t have driven round the power steering issue in race one and its frustrating to have then been hit in race two and race three. I don’t know what Andy Neate was doing in the last race. He must have just out-braked himself, but we lost out as a result.”
