Pinkney with handling issues

David Pinkney will start from 15th on the grid in the first race of the day at Oulton Park after handling issues, and a freak accident, hampered his qualifying session earlier today.

Earlier this week, David endured a freak personal accident and dislocated his shoulder but was fit and ready for this weekend’s action.

“I thought we would have been faster than we have been,” he admitted. “We know the car should be quicker than it was at Brands Hatch, but for some reason, we haven’t been able to show it. It seems to be the same problem we have had before, where the extra weight from the engine at the front of the car makes it difficult to change direction and turn into the corners. You can’t carry the speed you want to through the bends which then compromises your lap.”

David ended the day with a time of 1:29.059 which was 1.7s adrift of the pace of Tom Onslow-Cole who will start from pole.

“[Andy] Jordan seems to be suffering in the same way and we are lower on the times than we should be, but we’ll go into race day and try to score some points. If it rains, I’m hopeful we’ll be strong and I’ll try to make up places in the same way I did at Brands Hatch.”
