Turkington: “Talks have been positive”

Colin Turkington, the 2009 British Touring Car Champion, has been out of a drive since the last race of the season and has missed the first three races of 2010.

It’s likely that he will miss this weekends round at Oulton Park too but he and the team (West Surrey Racing) remain positive about returning to tin-top racing in the near future. Speaking to Motorsport News, Dick Bennetts, Team Principal of West Surrey Racing said, “Things have definitely moved forward for Colin in terms of backing. I wanted to get Colin out for the Oulton Park rounds of the British Touring Car Championship this weekend but the engine for the car won’t be ready in time.”

Colin himself went on to say, “I know the talks have been very positive and that is good news. All I want to do is get behind the wheel.”

Turkington and Bennetts have been looking at other options aswell as the BTCC with another avenue being the World Touring Car Championship in which Colin has already competed in during his career.
