Daniel Lloyd secures Triple Eight test

Daniel Lloyd will make his test debut in the BTCC next week when he teams up with Triple Eight Engineering at Rockingham to drive their Vauxhall Vectra around the 1.94m International Super Sports Car circuit.

Lloyd will run alongside the rest of the BTCC drivers during one of the scheduled BTCC test sessions this season which takes place on Tuesday 25th May.

The 18 year old from Huddersfield is said to be delighted about this opportunity. “This is an absolutely fantastic opportunity for me, I want to thank Ian Harrison and also my manager Tim Sugden for his help in securing this test deal”, said Daniel, “Driving a touring car has been my goal since I started racing karts in 2003, so to have the chance to drive a car as competitive as the ex-works Vectra – and with a team as successful as Triple Eight – is incredible.”

Daniel currently drives in the BF Goodrich/Skip Barber National Championship presented by Mazda over in America after he won the Renault Clio Winter Cup but he’s relishing the opportunity to get back into a ‘tin-top’.

“I’m looking forward to being back in a saloon car, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed racing the Skip Barber single-seater over the last couple of months but to get behind the wheel of a touring car is a bit of a dream come true,” said Daniel. “I know it’s going to be a big learning curve, and there will be plenty to learn and get to grips with, but my main aim is to enjoy the experience and do as good a job as possible for Ian (Harrison) and the rest of the guys at Triple Eight.”
