Paul O’Neill just keeps going from strength to strength as the Widnes based driver took the teams first independents victory as he stormed to second in race three yesterday at Rockingham.
Paul described his race as “Perfect” as he finished second behind Honda Racing Team driver, Matt Neal. He went on to say ““When we got the reverse grid after the first two races, I knew we had a real chance and I had to drive with my head.” Paul O’Neill now leads the independents championship after 6 rounds of the BTCC and will be looking to extend that lead heading into Brands Hatch next weekend.
John George’s weekend didn’t quite go to plan as he fell foul of the recent Icelandic Volcano sage which meant that he would be stuck in Spain till Thursday. George’s best finish this weekend was 15th but he remained upbeat despite his performance. “It’s a shame I wasn’t able to score any points but it’s still been a good weekend,” said George. “The positive thing is how quick the car is. Paul’s podium has shown that again and I’ve got to be confident that more points will arrive soon.”
