Hollamby hoping for better luck
Shaun Hollamby will head to Rockingham this weekend hoping for better luck than they had last time out at Thruxton.
Thruxton was the teams first outing in the BTCC and it started well as the team were said to be pleased about their performance in practice and to qualify 18th was beyond their expectations for their first qualifying session. However the team were to only manage one finish after failures on the CV joint in race one and three.
The team have made changes to the car in preparation for the trip to Rockingham this weekend. “To combat that we’ve re-positioned the engine a lot higher and changed the rotation of the gearbox so the driveshafts have an easier time, while still allowing us to run the same ride height. There’s also an improved aero’ package to aid straightline speed performance,” said Hollamby speaking to btcc.net.
AmD Millteksport certainly turned heads when they announced that they were to enter the BTCC driving a VW Golf, a car that hadn’t been seen in the BTCC for over 20 years and it’s had a tremendous response from the fans, something that hasn’t gone un-noticed by Shaun and the team.
“We all know how big and knowledgeable the crowds are at the BTCC, but it was still probably the biggest shock for us all weekend at Thruxton. The autograph session in the morning was something else – I think Jason (Plato) was most popular, then Tom (Chilton) and then us. We were mobbed,” said Hollamby. “It was a fantastic response. In race three as well I was having a good little battle with John George and you could hear the crowd over the noise of the car. How can teams and sponsors not want a part of that!?”
