Kane To Return To Motorbase?
Steven Kane yesterday was testing at Brands Hatch in the BMW 320si for Motorbase Performance. Steven sat a year out from the BTCC in 2009 as he was replaced in the team by Jonny Adam.
Motorbase are yet to announce any of their drivers for 2010 but they were dealt a major blow last week as Rob Collard switched teams and signed for West Surrey Racing, who also use the BMW 320si.
No testing took place yesterday as it was simply an installation outing to ensure that the car ran smoothly and didn’t have any problems, but the fact that Kane was in the car only adds to the rumours that he will be making a return to the team in 2010.
During 2009 Steven Kane was the FIA Formula 2 series test driver as well as being a guest driver at the KUMHO BMW Championship where incidentally he won both races.
Earlier this year at the Autosport International Show, Dave Bartrum announced that the team will be fielding a two car line up this season and another driver that has been linked with a drive is Mat Jackson. Jackson already has experience in the BMW as it’s the car he ran in ’07 and ’08 before making the switch to RML in 2009, so the move will feel natural to him.
