Triple-Eight Close to Comeback
Triple-Eight, the team that has had the backing from Vauxhall in the past, have today spoke out about a possible return in the BTCC as a private operation as early as the start of this season.
Ian Harrison, Triple-Eight team boss, spoke to Autosport and is said to be confident about securing a deal with at least one driver for 2010. “We’ve got the Vectras here and it’s a car we know from the ground up because we built it and we have the expertise to get the maximum from it. We’re talking to some serious parties about the 2010 programme already.”
Triple-Eight were dealt a blow after last season with Vauxhall’s announcement to leave the BTCC with immediate effect but the team hope to bounce back and hope that the knowledge that they already have on the car will stand them in good stead.
It is also understood that Triple-Eight will be the third team to take up the offer of the NGTC TOCA engine after Jordan and Pinkney also announced that they would be using the Swindon Engines turbo engine in 2010.
