WSR to Expand to Three

WSR to Expand to Three

West Surrey Racing have been veruy busy today which was the first day of the Autosport International Show in Birmingham. WSR unveiled their new team sponsor along with their new 2010 livery and now team boss, Dick Bennetts, says that he has plans to expand the team to three cars with the possibility of venturing outside of Great Britian and into the WTCC or ETCC.

Speaking to TouringCarTimes Dick Bennetts said, “We’re also keeping our options open with regard to the WTCC and the new format ETCC.”

“We’ve got three BMW 320si’s and we proved in 2009 that we have the resources to run all three cars to the same competitive level.”

“We’d very much like to retain Colin and Stephen (Jelley); however we are talking to a number of other drivers for the third seat. We’re not just looking at drivers from ‘tin tops’ either, as Stephen has proved that you don’t have to have this background to be a competitive touring car driver.”

As it stands WSR are yet to sign any drivers for 2010 and with Turkington stating that his ‘options are open’ and Jelley launching his ‘Scoop of Jelley’ scheme, WSR could well start 2010 with all new drivers.
