Turkington Keeps Options Open

Turkington Keeps Options Open

Reigning BTCC champion, Colin Turkington told TouringCarTimes that he is “keeping his options open in terms of BTCC, WTCC and the European stuff”. This now means that despite him unveiling the new WSR livery this morning he is not committed to the WSR team and no deal has been signed as of now.

Talking about his future, Colin went on to say “There’s plenty of teams keen on me driving their cars, but having the money to do it is another issue. There’s very few teams now with the money to pay a driver to race, most of the teams need some money so it’s a difficult situation.”

“I think it is important that I stay racing this year and then see what happens after that.”

So where does Turkington go from here? It’s difficult to say with many teams cutting back or dropping out of racing altogether on the touring car scene. In the WTCC BMW have cut back to just one works team and SEAT have pulled out completely and this is reflected throughout the many different series. We all hope that Colin sorts out a deal soon and stays with the BTCC to defend his title.
