Autosport International Countdown

Starting from Thursday and concluding this weekend, the NEC in Birmingham will play host to the Autosport International Show. The show is the 20th in its existence and is the worlds biggest motorsport show which is jam packed with cars and drivers from many of the different series’ including F1, WRC and BTCC.

Many BTCC stars have already expressed their interest in attending the show with Andrew Jordan and Dave Pinkney both being there with their NGTC-spec Vauxhall Vectra’s. Jordan and Pinkney have both taken advantage of the early introduction of the NGTC rules which means that teams can now develop and race an NGTC-spec car in 2010 ready for the full rule change in 2013. The Vectra’s will be powered by 2L turbo engines produced by Swindon Racing Engines.

Not only that but AmD Essex and Forster Motorsport, the new boys of the BTCC will be making appearances at the show too. Both AmD and Forster both have a history in motorsport and relish the challenge of racing in arguably one of the best racing series in this country. AmD Essex come off the back of winning the Dunlop Sportmaxx Production Cup and have confirmed that they are entering the BTCC with an S2000 VW Golf, a manufacturer that hasn’t been seen in the BTCC for many years. Forster Motorsport have gone down the RWD route and have chosen to enter two BMW 320si’s this season. Forster Motorsport are the reigning champions in the MINI Challenge and are seriously looking forward to the start of the season after their first two test sessions. You’ll be able to see both cars on display at the show.

That’s not all, other drivers who you’ll be able to see at the show include the likes of Rob Collard, Jonathon Adam, Matt Neal and Tom Onslow-Cole aswell as Jason Plato and ex-BTCC drivers Tiff Needell and Vicki Butler-Henderson.

The show also sports a Live Action Arena which is the UK’s largest indoor racetracks and is a must-see for anyone heading to the show. BTCC stars will line up to race against each other in a 20 man charity karting event held to raise money for the charity Malaria No More UK.

We wish everyone who attends the very best and we hope that you enjoy the show, the show which kicks off the 2010 motorsport season.
