Turkington Makes Autosport Top 50
Colin Turkington was the only BTCC driver to make it into the Autosport Magazine’s Top 50 drivers of 2009.
Turkington, who won the BTCC Drivers Championship with West Surrey Racing in the BMW 320si, was named as the 50th Best Driver of 2009 alongside top names such as Jenson Button, Paul Di Resta, Kimi Raikkonen and Allan McNish.
Colin Turkington made his debut in the BTCC in 2002 and since then he has gone from strength to strength and was a well deserved winner of 2009. He won 6 races in 2009 on his way to taking the title beating past winners Plato, Giovanardi and Neal in the process.
Other notable mentions in the Top 50 list were Gabrielle Tarquini – 44 and Yvan Muller – 29 who are both ex-BTCC champions. Jason Plato and Fabrizio Giovanardi were also noted in the Autosport Magazine Top 10 Over 40′s.
All of these are great achievements for all drivers involved.
