What YOU want for 2010

As you know, BTCCCrazy is very active upon the Twitter site and this week we’ve been sending out tweets to see what you, the community, want to see in the BTCC in 2010. As promised here’s the write up with my views on what’s been said.

@IanGate : Would love to see Matt Neal crowned triple champion and the start of development of NGTC spec cars.

Matt Neal, as we covered previously, is one of the drivers that we love to hate. Matt’s driving style is what you could say aggressive and certainly not attractive but his personality is everything that you would expect to see from a Touring Car Driver. Do I want him to win in 2010? No, I don’t but that doesn’t mean that he won’t.

Matt NealAs for the NGTC spec car’s I’m not sure if we will see too many developments on track but off the track mechanics will be working like crazy to supply the driver’s with the best possible car come the arrival of the new rules. Because of the new rules we may not see new teams enter in 2010 but save themselves for 2011 and the NGT Spec.

@shellk1984 : I would love to see Plato take the title.

Jason Plato is a true legend of the BTCC and it would be fitting for him to win the title and I don’t think anyone would take that away from him. In a way he’s in the same mould as Matt Neal in the way that he approaches a race but Plato is a real fans favourite. In 2009 Jason came extremely close in taking the title so he will be in good form going into 2010. I’m not betting man but if I was then I would have a flutter on Plato taking the title in 2010.

@graemefowler : What I’d like to see is hard but fair racing, as opposed to just hard and Paul O’Neill up there fighting for the championship having spent all his bad luck this year.

The BTCC is renown for the hard racing but I must admit some of it does push the letter of the law a little. I mean a little tap here and there is fine but some of the collisions are a bit reckless. Still, it all adds to the entertainment. As for Paul O’Neil he is a driver that I can see going from strength to strength next season and given he has a good car underneath him he can go far.

@Frontofhegrid : Rydell and Tarquini coming across to the BTCC if SEAT withdraw from the WTCC.

Now that’s something that I never thought of but something that must surely be possible although I can see them moving to another team in the WTCC if that was ever to happen. Rydell was a demon in the Volvo in the seasons that he was over here in the BTCC.

Thanks for all the tweets regarding the things that you would like to see in the BTCC come next season. Hopefully I can do another one of these in the near future. Happy tweeting.
